So, today is the last day of our birthday month. We decided not to hype it up this month or really mention it. We are not in the position to price cut or do any crazy 1960's throwback specials. At the moment, we are striving to keep up with our mission of serving only food that we would feed our three beautiful girls. It certainly has not been easy, but it's this way or no way, so I guess you're stuck with us because failure is not an option for us. We truly believe that this is our calling at the moment, and we will climb the mountains, jump the hurdles and get right back up every time we fall.
But this birthday month, it isn't about us—this is a love letter to all of our devoted customers, dear friends and partners who are our biggest motivators. We would not be us, without, you.
Seven years. For seven years we have been going strong, changing and evolving. It was just four years ago when we scribbled the name SOL Pie Pizza in a notebook. It's taken us awhile to evolve and change, and we still have a lot more to accomplish, but we are trying to enjoy the journey and learn the best way,—through the School of Hard Knocks. ; ) We'll take less of that, please. ; )
On July 21, 2008, we opened our doors as Ermanno's Legendary Pizza, and we could not have been prouder, but in our hearts we had a different mission that we had to embrace so we authentically evolved into SOL Pie Pizza. But we would not be who and where we are without the support and encouragement of an amazing man, Mike Lynch, owner of Ermanno's Legendary Pizza in Louisville. So, we have to give the first shout out to him. Thank you, popsy—for everything. (He's pictured above. We felt we had to pay tribute to him for our deep love for the pizza business). They used to call him Crazy Mike and now we know why—you do have to be a bit crazy to be in this industry. ; )
Next, to all of our devoted customers who cheered us along as we went through so many changes and to the new ones we met through our new mission. We are so grateful for your support. You are the ones making the real change, you are the advocates our world needs. We need more of you. : )
And how can we forget about our main partners—Anthony Pettiti's Garden Center (Thank you, Cindy!) Breezy Hill, Rudy Moyer (There is no one like this amazing man!) and his incredible Horticulture team from Gentlebrook, K&D Farms and Premium Pastured Meats in Alliance. We love this incredible, hard-working group bringing us local, grass-fed, NON-GMO meats. Thank you to each and everyone of you—you are a part of our mission, and we feel blessed to support you in your mission as well. It truly takes a village.
And last, but most certainly not least, we'd like to thank a few people who helped us on the creative side of our mission. Joe Rozsa of Trailer Trash Design for seeing and creating our vision with our logo; Dave Snyder of Project Digital for our sign above our entrance and our doors (Seriously, how awesome is our door!?). Kevin Miller, a very talented web designer and friend, who encouraged us to do our own website and then added the perfect final touches to bring it all together. We also want to send love out to all the incredible people and businesses we have met through SOL Pie. You all know who you are. Thank you for your inspiration and for your commitment to make the world a better place.
So, that's it. No cake or banners or crazy specials this year. Just a big, heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you.
We are looking forward to our eighth year and experiencing new adventures.
